Mayweather Denies Pacquiao Rematch Amid Contract Deadline Chaos
The highly anticipated Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao rematch has hit another roadblock as the American legend denies reports that the fight is back on, despite multiple deadlines from Pacquiao's camp.
After Netflix announced in February that the September showdown would stream live from Las Vegas' The Sphere, Mayweather reversed course, declaring it an exhibition rather than a professional bout, putting his perfect 50-0 record concerns aside.
Pacquiao's team, led by MP Promotions CEO Jas Mathur, maintains that Mayweather has already signed contracts and received financial benefits, setting an April 14 deadline for confirmation of the professional bout.
On deadline day, Mayweather responded to a deleted Instagram post claiming the fight was back on, stating: "This is not true! Fight Hype will be first to know after everything is worked out."
The ongoing "will they, won't they" saga continues to frustrate fans as both sides provide conflicting updates about the eleven-year-later rematch of their record-breaking original encounter.
